This medium rise building is six storeys high and is made of 522 members. Each floor has an area load of 0.35 ksf. Stresses in the model indicate that the extreme fiber is reaching 6.4 ksi on some of the members. Typical concrete strength is around 3 ksi – 4 ksi. In such cases where the stresses encountered is beyond the strength of the material, it may be necessary to increase the capacity of the cross-section. Also, as concrete is not linearly elastic, non-linear analysis can be used to solve for the structure, but its use is more appreciated in taller structures. Structural 3D has the ability to solve structures through non-linear analysis.
