Welcome to our latest software updates! This month, we’re excited to share the following improvements across the SkyCiv platform:
- Improved PDF compatibility with Bluebeam
- New ‘Select by Plane’ feature in the Structural 3D
- Keyboard shortcut for screenshots in the Structural 3D
- Improved AISC 360 Steel Member Design calculations
- New “Draw Distance Radii” tool in Load Generator
Improved PDF compatibility with Bluebeam
We’ve listened to your feedback and addressed a common PDF compatibility issue between SkyCiv and Bluebeam construction software. Previously, some users reported that certain PDF reported generated by SkyCiv would not open in Bluebleam, or some text and math calculations were rendered incorrectly. We’ve fixed these issues, ensuring that all PDFs generated by SkyCiv now work with Bluebeam. If you’ve had these issues before, we recommend trying the updated PDFs in Bluebeam again.
New “Select by Plane” feature in the Structural 3D
Our Structural 3D now includes a powerful new tool: the ‘Select by Plane’ function. Available through the right-click menu, this feature allows you to define allows you to define a plane based on the current selection (3 nodes, 2 members, or 1 plate) and automatically select all items within that plane. You can also define a custom plane for this function by specifying a list of nodes manually.
Keyboard shortcut for screenshots in the Structural 3D
Taking screenshots in the Structural 3D is now faster with our new keyboard shortcut. Simply use (Ctrl + 9) to take a screenshot of your current view. This small but useful addition will hep you quickly document your work and share it with team members.
Improved AISC 360 steel member design calculations
Following an independent review and validation, we’ve improved the calculations and reports for the AISC 360-16 and 360-10 standards. These updates ensure that your designs comply with the most recent codes and provide even better precision. For more information on these updates, please check out our full changelog.
New “Draw Distance Radii” tool in the Load Generator
We’ve recently added a new “Draw Distance Radii” button to the SkyCiv Load Generator. This feature allows you to draw a circle with a specified radius (distance) from the location. This is particularly helpful for determining Terrain and Exposure Categories.
