Do you ever get frustrated that your Structural Analysis model just isn't solving? You've checked your setup, inspected your nodes and triple checked your members - but still you can't tell why. It's a common issue, yet is sometimes difficult to locate and repair. That's why SkyCiv has developed a 'Model Repair' function which will help locate and repair any issues with your structural model. The first thing to understand is why is my model not solving? Most of the times the issues can be found by personally inspecting your model. But why bother? SkyCiv has built a function that will check your entire model for any issues and offer to repair these issues. Watch it in action in the short 3 minute video below:
The Model Repair feature performs the following tasks:
  • Removing floating or isolated nodes
  • Ensuring every member is joined by a node
  • Finds any node that splits a member and creates two members to connect them correctly
  • Removes duplicate members
Have any other annoyances when building your model? Let us know by visiting the Contattaci .! The function can also be used as a faster way to model your structure. Rather than drawing each member between each node, you can join one end to the other and split the member up using the function. This can be seen in the Beam example in the above video. The function can be run in one of two ways:
  1. When the solve button is clicked: If any issues are found, the software will automatically prompt you that SkyCiv has found some problems with the model. It is then your choice whether you want to repair the job or not before you solve.
  2. Edit --> Modello di riparazione: You can manually run the "Modello di riparazione" function at any time during the design stage.
The Model Repair function is just another feature rolled out as SkyCiv continues to improve and build out the performance of SkyCiv Structural 3D. Register for a Free SkyCiv Account and try it for yourself today!
