Welcome to our October product updates. This month’s highlight is our major update for SkyCiv Structural 3D v7.0, which introduces a faster solver and improved graphics with several new features to speed up your design process and expand the range of engineering problems you can solve.

Watch the update video and read the blog to see what’s new and how it can help on your next project.

Performance Enhancements

Faster Solver

v7.0 delivers 2.7× faster solve times with an upgraded CPU and optimized solver algorithms. Models that previously took minutes now solve in seconds.

Improved Graphics Performance

The graphics engine has been rebuilt for 2× faster performance, ensuring smooth zooming, panning, and rotating even on models with 50,000+ éléments.

Increased Capacity

v7.0 supports a 1.8× increase in model capacity, enabling complex and large-scale projects with 100,000+ elements to be modeled and solved easily.

One-Way Area Loads

L'une des nouvelles mises à jour les plus intéressantes de S3D v7 concerne les charges de zone unidirectionnelles améliorées.. Tous les polygones convexes non rectangulaires sont désormais pris en charge, allowing you to distribute loads to angled internal members as well as continuous and intersecting members.

These options were lacking in the previous version, qui a été renommé en “Sens Unique (Héritage)”.

Key Enhancements:

  • Support for all non-rectangular convex polygons
  • Distribution to angled internal members
  • Ability to handle continuous and intersecting members
  • Member offsets are now considered to preserve the total loading
  • Advanced options for multiple load intervals (similar to Column Wind Loads)
  • Option to exclude specific members and/or internal members

Non-Linear Spring Supports

Une autre nouvelle mise à jour est la possibilité d'utiliser des supports à ressort non linéaires, which allows you to define a non-linear relationship for the stiffness of the spring. The spring’s stiffness can be dependent on the support node’s displacement or reaction, providing greater accuracy in modeling complex support conditions.

Plate Section Cuts Tool

The plate section cuts tool has received a major update with significant improvements for larger models.

Plate cuts tool

Performance Improvements:

  • Optimized performance for models with many plates
  • Smooth operation on larger models

New Visualization Features:

  • Graphs can now be plotted directly on the model geometry for better visualization
  • Helps understand exactly where values are coming from within the model
  • 3D renderer can now plot color-scaled result diagrams for member results (previously only solid colored segments were available)

Enhanced Functionality:

  • Cut lines can now be defined using an offset value rather than manual coordinate calculation
  • Particularly convenient when calculating cuts from the edge of a plate
  • Support for additional result types: wood armer moments, pression du sol, and membrane force XY
  • Two-thirds rule option according to CSA when averaging moments in the effective width of a slab strip

Lignes d'influence & Déplacement des charges

Many users have been requesting the ability to calculate influence lines in SkyCiv Structural 3D. In this latest update, we’ve started implementing Moving Loads by adding a new feature calledTraffic Lines”.

How It Works:

  • Traffic Lines define where moving unit loads will be applied in the negative vertical axis
  • Unit loads are applied at every intersection point of the traffic line with selected members
  • This results in the influence line

Traffic Lines

New Results Viewer:

  • Click the new “Lignes d'influence” button in the results UI
  • Generates the Influence Line for a specific traffic line
  • View color-scaled member result diagrams for easier interpretation
