Wie der Name andeutet, the double WT connection uses two WT sections to create a Moment Verbindung. Both WT sections are mounted on the top and bottom flanges of the child member.
Design
A double WT connection is considered to be one of the cheaper alternatives to the Durch Plattenverbindung und Collared Plate Connection as it only requires extra bolting or welding for the WT sections to the HSS column.
Empfohlene Vorgehensweise
- The double WT connection can be prone to high prying loads on the welds of the HSS column, therefore it is better to over design the welds use
- The depth of the WT flange should not be wider than the flange of the child member.
- The web flange of the WT shape should not extend too long to prevent a higher moment load acting on the welds
